---++ Events ---+++ Special events organised by/with AI-GEOSTATS *Spatial Interpolation Comparison (SIC) exercises* The Radioactivity Environmental Monitoring (REM) group (IES, Joint Research Centre Directorate General of the European Commission) is organising spatial interpolation exercises in collaboration with the ai-geostats mailing list. In short, participants are invited to estimate measurements of a variable at unsampled sites and receive the true values observed at these locations only after having submitted their results (more details). The underlying idea of SIC exercises is to contrast algorithms which could be used within the context of sampling campaigns and automatic monitoring networks (e.g. for radiological levels, concentrations of atmospheric pollutants, seismic activity, meteorological data, etc.) that are reporting information to decision makers in the form of maps, and this either on a regular basis or in emergency situations. Manuscripts submitted by participants are peer reviewed by an international Editorial Board and published in journals (online) as well as in hardcopies in European Reports. * [[EventsSIC][SIC: Introduction of the concept ]] * [[EventsSIC97][SIC97: Mapping exercise of daily rainfall data ]] * [[EventsSIC2004][SIC2004: Automatic mapping exercise with radiological data ]]
