2nd International Nearest Neighbors Workshop

The goals of the Workshop are to share and discuss methods, applications, and research findings; to generate new ideas; and to foster new partnerships and collaborations. Abstracts for oral and poster presentations are invited for the full spectrum of Nearest Neighbors (NN) and imputation techniques including, but not limited to, Most Similar Neighbor (MSN), Gradient Nearest Neighbor (GNN), and k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN). We encourage the presentation related to the use of NN techniques with or without remotely sensed information. Abstracts for both theoretical and applied presentations in the following and other topic areas are welcome:

• multi-source natural resource inventories
• classification, mapping and estimation of forest cover attributes
• large and small area estimation
• algorithms and optimization techniques
• diagnostics, errors and accuracy assessment methods
• database applications

For each oral presentation 20-25 minutes will be reserved for each contribution. For contributions accepted as posters it is possible that short oral presentations (possible length of 5 minutes) will be available for each poster. The final length for oral presentations and the possibilities of short oral presentations for contributions accepted as posters will be defined on the basis of the number of abstracts accepted.

Abstracts must include title, author names, affiliations, mailing addresses, and e-mail addresses. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words. Also, indicate presentation type as poster or oral. Abstracts should be submitted in English in MS Word to: Gherardo Chirici: gherardo.chirici(at)unimol.it

Submissions due by May 15, 2007. Authors will be notified of abstract selection within the end of May 2007.

Proceedings will be made available on-line. Manuscripts, extended abstracts, and posters will be accepted for the proceedings and must be submitted by the end of the workshop, July 7, 2007.
